Suffrage: The right to vote in a political election. The women’s suffrage movement was a difficult and dangerous time for those involved, Some women were beaten in the streets, imprisoned and even worse. In total, it took 82 years before all Australian women won the right to vote in, in 1962.

Green, white and violet were the colours of the suffragette movement. There are two reason given for these being chosen. Green represented hope, white for purity and violet freedom and dignity. Another reason was that it stood for G= Give, W=Women, V=Votes.

A Swarovski skull was added to represent the fierceness and conviction that these women had to fight and win the vote.
