What are we about?

Artists, educators, misfits, troublemakers, changemakers and rebels, we are your tribe.

Bodil was founded in Australia by a once-gothic teenager who fell in love with the power of art along with the people who create it, live it, love it, challenge or change it.

The name Bodil - pronounced bow- dill (as in bow and arrow)- is a nod to founder Julie Burbidge’s Norwegian heritage. Bodil is a girls name and means strong female leader. Empowering young girls and women through messages of strength, courage and resilience is something we are deeply passionate about. Equality is everything, regardless of gender, race, sexuality or religion.

As well as equality, Bodil’s heart beats for animal and environmental protection. We strive to make our products as eco friendly as possible and are committed to constantly improving our footstep on the earth.

Bodil is for those who hold unique perspectives on the world- those who pursue progress and question everything: artists, educators, misfits, troublemakers and rebels.

We believe ceilings are meant to be broken and boundaries are supposed to be pushed. We are inspired by those who can show the world it’s ugly and ask for change, and those who can show the beauty in ugly and ask for sensitivity.

If you are willing to stare the hard questions in the face for the love of art, then we are your people.

We produce stationery and gifts with beauty on the surface and rich stories beneath. We hope that when you purchase our products, you will be inspired and charmed, and your curiosity satiated.

Giving back

Bodil loves changemakers. That’s why we have chosen Bush Heritage Australia as our first community partner. As well as equality, Bodil’s heart beats for animal and environmental protection. We will be donating 5% of our profit to their amazing conservation efforts.

Bush Heritage

The Australian bush is a place of outback wonders and rugged beauty. Bush Heritage is an independent not-for-profit that buys and manages land, and partners with Aboriginal people, so we can protect our irreplaceable landscapes and our magnificent native species forever.
